It's time again to start a new year in Choir! All 4th & 5th graders at Independence are invited to join our great Choir!
Choir registration has begun, and rehearsals begin on Tue. July 22 and Thu. July 24 (students choose either Tue. or Thu. mornings to attend Choir rehearsals). To sign up for Choir, print out the registration form (below) & send it into school w/ your child. If your child misses the first rehearsals, don't worry! They can still join! Just send in your registration form, & send your child to the next rehearsal! Choir rehearsals are before school, from 8 - 9 am in Mr. McDade's classroom (Rm. 202, across from the Art rooms).
Our Choir will be singing "God Bless America" before the Cardinals game on Sun., Sept. 7 (game time 1:15 pm). Tickets for the game are only $12 (for Outfield Terrace Reserved) , & each ticket includes a coupon for a free small hot dog & small soda at the game. It's also Albert Pujols Bobblehead Day, & Kids Run the Bases Day at the game! If you are new to Choir and will be singing at the game with us, you will also need to order a Choir shirt ($15). Ticket order forms are below. Shirts can be ordered on the same form as the tickets.

Independence Choir Info 
1. Choir is for any interested 4th and 5th grader at Independence. There are no audition requirements for Choir at Independence - any 4th or 5th grader who likes to sing is welcome in our Choir! There is no fee for choir, other than the cost of purchasing tickets ($12 this year) and a Choir shirt ($15) for the Cardinals game that we sing at every year.
2. Choir rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting at 8 am. Students come to rehearsal one day a week, your choice of either Tuesday or Thursday morning. Parents are responsible for arranging their child’s transportation to school for choir. Many students car pool together with other choir students in their neighborhood.
As we approach the time for concerts, we will have extra rehearsals that Choir members will need to attend. Please see the schedule when it is sent home for the dates of these extra rehearsals. Students who want to do special parts for the concerts, such as dancing, playing an instrument, or singing a solo, duet, small group, etc., will need to come to extra rehearsals for those parts. Rehearsals for these special parts are usually scheduled on Wed. mornings before school.
3. Parental permission is required to be in choir. If your child will be joining choir, please fill out a choir registration form (available above) and indicate which day your child will be attending rehearsals. Please have your child bring the registration form to Mr. McDade. Returning Choir members from last year, please also fill out the registration form, so I can get updates on your new classroom teacher for this year, any changes in e-mail addresses, etc. Please have your child return this form to me as soon as possible at the beginning of the school year. Once rehearsals start, if you need to change the day your child attends rehearsals, that’s fine, just please let me know so I can keep accurate attendance records.
4. Choir rehearsals last until 9 am, when students go to their classroom to start the day. Rehearsals are in Mr. McDade's classroom (Rm. 202, across from the Art rooms). A complete schedule of rehearsals and concert dates will be sent home with your child at the beginning of the year.
5. It is strongly recommended that parents join the choir e-mail address group that Mr. McDade maintains - most info about Choir is sent out by e-mail. If you would like to join the Choir e-mail group, please put your e-mail address on the Choir registration form.
6. First Choir rehearsals of the new school year will be Tue. July 22 (for Tue. Choir students) & Thu. July 24 (for Thu. Choir students). Rehearsals are in Mr. McDade's room (Rm. 202) at 8 am.
