Drumsteps Gallery

Drumsteps is the amazing interactive musical website from the BBC (British Broadcasting Company). On this site, students place small red balls that roll down sets of steps, in & out of trapdoors & "wormholes", & down ladders, over "triggers", etc. The result is a rhythmic visual and audio musical composition made up of a variety of percussion sounds. Each composition is unique, and the possibilities are endless.

!!! Important Tech-y Things !!!

To view these Drumsteps songs, you need to know these things:

1. Drumsteps works best with Internet Explorer. I have had on & off success using Drumsteps with Mozilla Firefox, and Drumsteps definitely doesn't work with the Safari browser (from Apple). Drumsteps may work on a Mac if you have Internet Explorer installed, but I can't guarantee anything there.

2. You need to have the latest version of the "Shockwave" browser plug-in installed on your computer to make Drumsteps work. Students, you may need to ask your parents, or an older brother or sister do this for you. To get the "Shockwave" installer, go here:

3. When you click on the links for the songs below, they will take you to an area on the Drumsteps page. Click on the link that says, "Click here to launch Drumsteps (in a popup window)". If you are using Windows XP, it may ask you to "allow" the popup window. If you are using Windows Vista, sorry, don't know much about it....

4. When you click the green "Play" button in the popup window of a song, you may get a message saying that your computer is "rehearsing" the song if it's "very complicated". Be patient, it may take a few moments for the song to start. Make sure you have your computer volume on ! If the song doesn't play ("freezes"), please let me know (click on the "Mr. McDade" link at bottom of this page).
